Study and Career Counselor Temporary Position 80-100%

Önnestad Folk High School has been an important place for education and personal development for over 150 years. The school is located in beautiful natural surroundings that contribute to a peaceful and creative study environment. The school has boarding facilities and is close to train connections. Each year, approximately 300 participants come to us to attend one of our programs. At the school, about 40 people work in various roles including cleaning, property maintenance, caretaking, administration, finance, study and career counselors, kitchen staff, and teachers.

The role of a study and career counselor involves supporting, informing, handling applications, inspiring, and motivating participants to grow and find their paths. We are looking for you who have a study and career counselor degree and experience in the role. It is advantageous if you have worked at a folk high school or upper secondary school.

You have good digital skills and are accustomed to working with structured documentation in digital systems. You have an ability to build relationships and create trust together with participants through attentive and respectful treatment. You meet participants where they are and are skilled at guiding. You are also good at collaborating and cooperating both internally and externally. You participate in job and education fairs, receive study visits. Administer applications to our various programs. You work independently and drive your projects and areas of responsibility from start to finish with good structure and a sense of responsibility. You take initiative, see opportunities, and dare to try new ways of working that contribute to developing the operations and moving the work forward.

As a study and career counselor at a folk high school, you help participants understand which education and career options exist and how they can achieve their goals. You inform about the labor market and different educational pathways. You are also there for them in conversations about future plans and working life. As a study and career counselor, you meet individuals both in individual conversations and in groups. You work informatively, motivatively, and coachingly, primarily towards participants but also towards teachers and other staff at the school.

The position is a temporary position with the possibility of extension. Start date as agreed.
