
Postdoctoral Researcher in Education Economics
Description
The Institute for Evaluation of Labour Market and Education Policy (IFAU) announces a two-year postdoctoral position in education economics. The postdoctoral researcher will work together with Associate Professor Anna Sjögren, Professor Björn Öckert, and co-authors on a research project investigating the importance of parental skills for children's life opportunities. The employment begins no later than September 1, 2026.
As a postdoctoral researcher, you will work closely with the project group and handle extensive Swedish register data on skills, education, and health. The tasks include ordering, constructing, and processing data as well as conducting econometric analyses, primarily in Stata. The goal is to produce scientific publications in collaboration with the research group. There is also room to conduct your own research projects. The position does not include teaching.
IFAU is a government research institute with approximately 50 employees, located in Uppsala. IFAU evaluates labor market, education, and social insurance policies and conducts policy-relevant research in labor economics. We have close collaboration with the Department of Economics at Uppsala University and offer a stimulating research environment with a creative and collegial working approach.
Qualification Requirements
• Doctoral degree in economics, completed or expected by August 2026. The degree must have been obtained within the last three years.
• Strong research potential.
• Documented ability to conduct empirical research in labor economics using administrative data.
• Very good ability to express oneself orally and in writing in English.
• Very good collaboration skills.
Meritorious
• Good ability to express oneself orally and in writing in Swedish.
• Experience working with Swedish administrative registers, particularly in health, education, and skills, as well as good knowledge of Swedish institutional conditions.
