Description
Do you want to be a priest in a context where faith can take place in the middle of everyday life in northern Sweden – surrounded by vast forests, rivers and mountain-close landscapes? Here tradition and renewal meet in an environment where creation is constantly present and outdoor life is a natural part of life. Then this could be the position for you.
Work with us in the Southern Lapland parish – Lycksele Parish
In the Southern Lapland parish and Lycksele Parish, the church is an obvious part of the town's life. People gather here for worship, church ceremonies, conversations, choir singing, children's and youth activities, and diaconal meeting places.
Lycksele is a place where town meets wilderness. In Lycksele, you live with nature right outside your door. Here there are miles of forests, lakes and the Ume River winding through the landscape. For those who appreciate hunting, fishing and outdoor life, the area offers unique opportunities – from moose hunting and small game hunting to fishing in flowing waters and calm forest lakes. Hiking, snowmobile trails, ski tracks and paddling are a natural part of the year.
Working here means not only a meaningful mission in the church – it also means quality of life. Here there is space, tranquility and the distinct changes of the seasons. Northern lights over the winter sky, bright summer nights and the clear autumn air become part of everyday life.
In the parish, we want worship life to be vibrant and anchored in people's reality. We cherish tradition but are open to new expressions and forms. We want to be a present church with low thresholds and warm community.
You will become part of a work team where priests, deacons, educators, musicians and other employees together carry the mission. Collaboration, participation and trust characterize our way of working.
Parish-wide work with baptisms, confirmations, weddings and funerals is an obvious part of the position. Here you will meet people through all stages of life – often in close and personal contexts that characterize smaller towns.
