We are starting a new residential care home with a focus on children aged 11-14 and are seeking several treatment educators. About Tegelvillan
Tegelvillan is a residential care home for children aged 11-14 with psychosocial and/or neuropsychiatric issues, children with complex behavioral problems, and children with acting-out issues. Our operation is characterized by structure, security, and relationship-based work in a home-like environment. We conduct treatment based on CBT principles, low-affect approach, and milieu therapeutic methods – where every situation is seen as an opportunity for learning.
Tegelvillan has five places. The treatment is carried out in close collaboration with the operation's psychologist, child psychiatrist, and other professions within Amplius' specialist team.
About the Role
As a treatment educator at Tegelvillan residential care home, you have a contact person assignment – you are a secure, stable, and present adult who helps the child create structure, security, and predictability in daily life. You are an important person for the child and have a significant impact on the child's quality of life.
You need to have the ability to build a close and trusting relationship, look beyond the child's behavior, and understand the underlying needs. A gentle, respectful, and caring approach is combined with clarity, boundary-setting, and responsibility-taking.
Being able to meet children in affect with a low-affect approach is a basic requirement for working with us. You should also be able to meet the children's difficulties in a professional, empathetic, and non-judgmental manner.
We place great importance on our employees having the ability for self-reflection – you need to be able to reflect on your own approach, see how it affects the child's behavior, and actively adjust your actions to achieve the desired effect. You are receptive to feedback and regularly participate in supervision.
As an employee, you are a role model and model in the child's learning of new and more effective behaviors. Through your way of acting, communicating, and handling emotions, you show the child alternative strategies and paths to change.
Your treatment-oriented work includes, among other things:
-Plan and implement the milieu therapeutic work based on CBT and behavior analysis.
-Be responsible for daily planning and create clear, predictable routines adapted to the child's needs and abilities.
-Hold regular conversations (contact person conversations) focusing on: Skill training, Behavioral activation, Regulating activities (e.g., emotion management, problem-solving, recovery).
-Support the child in developing more effective behaviors through positive reinforcement, modeling, and guidance in daily life.
-Conduct behavior observations, work with ABA (applied behavior analysis) to understand the connections between situation, behavior, and consequence, document according to applicable legislation and the operation's routines.
As a contact person, you are the one who holds together the child's daily and treatment-oriented process. You contribute to the child's development by combining structure, empathy, and reflection in everything you do.
Working hours are scheduled according to a rolling 6-week schedule with variation in day, evening, weekend, and on-call duty occurring regularly. We also have employees who work awake night shifts.
About You
We are seeking you who have at least two years of post-secondary education in social work as a social educator, treatment educator, behavior scientist, social worker, or who have other education in combination with experience that we assess as equivalent. You have at least four years of experience in treatment work at residential care homes or within LSS, as well as experience working with children and young people who have neuropsychiatric disabilities. Knowledge of and experience working based on Milieu Therapy, CBT, low-affect approach, MI is desirable, as is work with behavior observations, behavior analysis, and social documentation.
We are seeking you who want to be part of an engaged operation under development, where evidence-based treatment and the child's best interests always are in focus. You have a genuine willingness to understand the child's perspective, patience to build trust over time, and the ability to create security through your calm and stable manner. You are good at collaborating and value reflection and supervision as a natural part of the work. You need to be able to handle your own emotions in challenging situations and act with professional distance and empathy. You are secure in yourself, without prestige, and have a high degree of self-insight.
You want to work in a structured, pedagogical, and conscious manner with CBT and behavior analysis at the foundation, and you find it meaningful to be the secure adult who models new skills for the child in daily life. You see collaboration and communication as a strength, thrive in a team that learns from each other, and are curious about developing both professionally and personally. Your knowledge of Swedish and English is good, both spoken and written. If you have additional language skills, it is meritorious.
